Business Intelligence & Automation Engineer is a multidisciplinary role that combines the skills of someone who does business intelligence, automation and tech all in one - within a growth marketing agency environment. You get full ownership of our data infrastructure, where you try to improve and scale both our backend and our frontend, while also automating all manual processes for other team members, using a combination of code/low-code/no-code tools, keeping a constant eye out on the latest tools, software and methods available on a global basis. You’re essentially someone who applies a growth mindset to the data & automation fields.

What would I do as a Business Intelligence & Automation Engineer?

  • Be responsible for automatically generated Looker Studio reports and their quality
  • Initiate data generation (tracking) using Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager
  • Create on-demand analyses and reports for our internal team and our clients
  • Set up & maintain data pipelines in our backend built in BigQuery using SQL
  • Find opportunities for automation across teams e.g. tasks that are repetitive, scheduled, and distract our team members from more valuable work
  • Implement automation processes using GenAI & LLM tools such as ChatGPT, programming languages such as Python, Java and Javascript, low-code/no-code tools such as Zapier and Pipedream, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools such as UiPath or frameworks like Selenium (previous coding experience is welcome but not required)
  • Troubleshoot any issues regarding data & automation with a high sense of urgency
  • Learn digital marketing to a degree where you understand all reports
  • Improve your hard (technical) and soft (people) skills and incorporate feedback to help you in the process
  • Manage digital marketing campaigns and the client relationship for one or two of our clients so you stay up-to-date on the digital field as well as have more context on our data infrastructure and automation efforts

In Job title it says “training provided”. What would the training look like?

We believe in learning by doing. Therefore, you would start by getting an introduction to our company, the services we provide and how this ties into our current data infrastructure. You would also help doing ad-hoc analyses and slowly begin to manage dashboards, tracking and data-sources for more clients. Once you have a good grasp of all the tools, you will begin being involved with more clients.

How would you describe the right candidate for this position?

  • Has 0-2 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, (Marketing) Tech and Automation and strong desire to progress in these fields
  • Is proficient in SQL, and Python and/or Java
  • Does not like routine and enjoys solving problems
  • Has a curious mind that likes experimenting, testing and seeing the results from their ideas
  • Is good with numbers and details

Do I need previous work experience?

Previous professional work experience isn’t required. Nevertheless, we will have a strong preference for candidates who have experience in reporting and in working with numbers in general - either using a spreadsheet or coding or both. Personal projects, internships or work experience would demonstrate your motivation and provide some skills that could help you in the beginning.

What would be my career path?

You will have an immediate chance to work with your own interns. Depending on how well you lead a team in this context, and how our Tech team grows, the likely career path for you would be to become a Senior Business Intelligence & Automation Engineer where you will build a bigger team. That would require demonstrating strong analytical skills, strong drive, willingness to continuously improve and the desire to lead other team members.

What does the application process look like?

The application process is simple:

  • Send your CV and cover letter to careers@marketyze.io
  • If you match our profile we will promptly share a 40-minute online analytical test, as well as a test that would verify your on-the-job skills
  • If successful with the test(s), we will schedule a first-round general interview in our office with three people: our CEO, your future supervisor in the role and our people ops & talent associate. If an in-person interview is not possible, alternatively the interview will be held online
  • If successful on the first round interview, there will be a case study in Excel format and a second round remote interview with our co-founder. The format of the interview as well as the line of questioning is identical to the first round, but here we will likely ask further on aspects of you we would like to know more about
  • If successful on the second round interview, we will schedule a third round cultural fit interview with your future supervisor as well as two other team members (in Thai). The goal of this interview is to make sure you fit well in our team & culture, and thus the line of questioning will revolve around establishing this

Done! By the end of the same week your third round cultural fit interview is held, you will hear the final result, which is either an offer letter or a rejection email. In most cases the application process will be completed within two weeks of submitting your resume.
